I HATE COX!!

Ha! After I typed that I realized it could take on a whole other meaning...

Anyways.......
Our internet is through cox. I don't know that I have many other options for this, especially when our phone and cable it also through cox.
Well, my internet is down frequently. We have that high-speed, high tech crap. Did I ever say I married a geek? Anyways, so whatever we have in the house is up-to-date and great. So, I wonder why we have issues? It's not our equipment.

After months of calling cox and having random service guys come look at our stuff.......they finally told us that we are the last of the last. Meaning the box thingy that we get our internet from has like a line system. Someone is first, then there's lots of other people, then you have us. We are the end of the line. What does that mean? It means that if alot of other people are using their internet, our signal sucks!!!

But, we pay the same amount as those other people. Therefore, I am pissed! As I'm typing this right now, blogger is telling me "could not contact Blogger.com" Saving and publishing may fail"
You have no idea how many times I type something, only to hit post, and get the "internet explorer can not display the webpage"I just attempted 4 times to post on Courtney's blog. Those poor horses.

Ok, I have learned some things from this. If you are typing alot, copy and paste it to a notepad. That way you don't have to start over, or worse, try to remember what the hell you were trying to say. Speaking of which, I'm running to save this right now. Love the control A, control C, control V options!

Anyways.....after months of those guys doing nothing but telling us we were SOL, last night DH was finally trying to do some work online. Note that when I'm trying to work online, it's ok. But, since it was him, he was irate! He called them and demanded that we do not pay for a service we are not getting. So, last night they stopped charging us for internet, and will start again in Thursday night when the service guys can come out. And I imagine every time we get dropped, we will be calling telling them to stop charging. Hopefully now they will do something!

Will this post? Am I back online??

Nope. I'll try later. Right now it's time to listen to my son read a book about sharks.

(note: I tried to post this from 8 pm until 10 pm last night. I finally gave up and went to bed)

Amen!! We have Cox and have terrible connectivity (and terrible customer service), too. In fact, everyone I've talked to hates Cox. To save a few bucks, my husband bundled our services, so now our phone doesn't work half of the time, too. I've never had problems with any other cable provider, but Cox truly sucks. We are always having repairmen traversing through our house, and they always say they fixed this or that, but it never helps. They dug up our yard and left a cable for our toddler to get into and didn't bury it for more than 6 weeks (and that's after we called -- oops, they forgot to schedule the burial). I'd sure like to schedule a burial -- of the Cox empire.

Cox really is the all worst company. My gripe with them is the bill. They are the most fee-happy of the fee-happy, and I know a LOT of fee-happy companies. I changed my account to their 'cheapest' phone, 'cheapest' Internet, and 'cheapest' cable and somehow the bill didn't change a wit! It was around $150 a month before and it still is. Of course if you get into it with a rep they run you in circles. Oh, and my favorite line. They claim that the techs that come out to shut off your service, are also the guys who call to collect. Not since the paperboy in the 70's have I believed that one. Cox is full of mean-spirited, incompetent, lazy, lying people. Never do business with them.

I would call ATT if I were you. Cheaper and in some areas they have advanced T.V. now!

If there is one thing worse than their lousy, overpriced service it is all those pathetic Cox commercials on tv. They have about 30 different ads that play constantly. Digital Max, speed burst internet, bundle of savings, it never ends. Sometimes they play 3 different ads in one commercial break. This is what they spend their huge profits on, not improving our service. Cox truly does suck!!

Cox and other cable providers only play so many commercials because no one buys the air time that the broadcaster gives to the company to sell. Rather than blank air, they play their own commercials. If you don't like it, tell companies you like to advertise on your cable company.

Secondly, I do contract work on the networks that Cox uses. You should not have a 'last of the last' connection, since that is not how Cox or any cable provider's network works. You either have an interference on your line due to line damage, or you are trying to put too many items on the lines that you have. You either need to plug/block any cable outlets you are not currently working (because they do leak signal when you aren't using them), or see about asking for an amplifier when the technician is out to run the amount of service you are wanting. Trust me on this, if you complain enough... Cox will do EVERYTHING to fix your problem. I have seen them schedule as many as 10 techs in a month and spend more money than they will earn from you in a year to fix your problem. Just be persistent, but not rude. A customer that understands but asks seriously for help will always get taken care of. Rude people, usually get the minimum.

I had a flood in my condo and my phone did not work. My TV cable was not working and the TV was not connected because of the water damage. so I decided to put my account on kind of hold until I could get my place fixed. Cox demmanded $75 penalty. After a lot of aggrivation and 2-3 hours on hold with different people, they said we will bill you and then call back when your service is on and we will credit you. Why should I pay for a service that I do not have and can not use? I called back and finally one person said ok we will not bill you. A week later I got a $120 bill from Cox so I called again and now they are back at saying they will recredit me. If I had options (which I am looking into) I WOULD NEVER EVER USE COX. One representative said they will send someone to run the cable to another room. My place is in a mess, I have contractors in and no room to run the cable somewhere else! Cox has a very bad service. You are put on hold, hung up on and they are not helpful at all.

I completely agree on how much I hate cox. I have been cutting and pasting to notepad for some time now before I post anything. My internet drops about 15 times a day, usually in the evening. I work from home, and pay $60/mo for it, but they don't seem to care. And when I canceled my expanded cable, no one bothered to tell me my internet would go up $10, the cost of the service I canceled! Genius business plan. I have NO other options. Verizon, ATT, Embarq, none of them have service at my house. Grrrrr.

Cox employees are incompetent morons. Cox plays so many of their own commercials because they have to fill the unsold commercial air time? How about airing more programing, how about lowering the cost for commercial time? Poor service equals you doing something wrong? Keep calling and scheduling more service calls, it's not like you have anything better to do with your time!! IGNORANT,INCOMPETENT,GREEDY MONOPOLY!!!! COX TRULY SUCKS!!!

I used to have cox, from the first day I had problems with this stupid company. I had to go there 3 times to get them to connect me, I brought my license and social the first 2 times and they said it wasn't enough. So yeah after they FINALLY got it going and I call them 1-3 times a month because the internet keeps going out right after the contract ends my internet died completely... So they send a tech here that replaced the cable outside my house by their server box and my internet started working again... Than he tells me this crap that its my modem and tries to sell me another modem for $50 and than I got charged $20 because it was their own damn fault... So yeah like 1 or 2 months pass I get my bill... They raised my bill by $10 with no reason, I never had a late payment or anything... FINALLY got Verizon FiOS and Cox can suck it. BTW: My routers SSID is "Bye-Bye Cox" hahah... Cox tech's don't realize that some people (like me) are licensed in networking and know more than them, Cox needs to stop ripping people off and start doing some real work if they want to survive...

I truly agree down to a personal level. Not personal but I think you would understand my emphasis. My internet drops around every 15 minutes which ruins my computer experience. I also have to agree with the post below mine. We have repairmen coming around every month or so and they always say they fixed the problem but it never is fixed. I have a few things to say to Cox. Cox is truly the gayest cable company or any service company I know at all. Even the name inspires gayness all around.

Agree! Agree!
Now, they keep trying to sell their "service insurance". What a joke. The times I've had one of their techs come out they always screw up my system. Last time it took me a couple of hours to fix it so I could print. They keep telling me it's because I have a Mac and my airport is broken. No! If I keep rebooting the problem eventually is fixed. Sometimes this method takes days.
I called them today when my internet went down. I even gave them an out asking if traffic was horrific considering it is the day before Thanksgiving.
The guy said it wasn't (if it is a problem on their end they are supposed to give you credit for that day on your bill). Then, once again he tried to sell me the "service insurance". I not only said no I told him they needed to hire some techs that were more knowledgeable especially in the realm of Mac computers. He then informed me that most people have PC's. I told him it wasn't like Mac was some strange 3rd party computer system.
I refused to have the tech come out and, as always, after an hour of rebooting... OMG! I fixed it myself!!

Hi, I know you said you hate Cox and I'm sorry to hear that. I have DISH Network as my TV provider and I am pretty happy with their service. I get twice as many channels as any other TV provider. Not to mention HD Free for Life is available as a qualified customer. As a DISH employee DISH was rated #1 in Customer Satisfaction among all cable and satellite TV providers. You should really check out DishNetwork.com for more info.
