Summer school is over, and I survived! But, I am not Super Woman.

I really expected to get A's in these classes. My first degree was easy. I'm not sure if it was the school, or the teachers, or what the deal was, but I got 2 B's and the rest were A's. That was my Criminal Justice degree. And most of them were 8 week classes. So, I went into this new degree expecting everything to be as simple as the last. It's is not. This summer kicked my ass.

I took a 4 week Microeconomics, a 4 week Macroeconomics, and an 8 week Managerial Accounting class. Did I mention they kicked my ass??

After a discussion with some friends last night, I think I realized why my new classes got B's. And why my ass was kicked. The Criminal Justice degree was a bull shit degree. A lot of paper writing and essays. I could write whatever and eventually touch on something that got me some credit.
An Accounting degree is not like that. I'm not going to be able to bull shit my way through it.

This was my schedule for June/July:
6 am, (sometimes earlier) get up and ready, go do any pet sits.
7 am Work at the Law Firm (except on Fridays, I had a test every Friday and stayed home to study)
9:30 am - go to Economics (every day of the week)
12 pm - do any pet sits and snarf some sort of food down
1 pm - back to the office
5 pm - any pet sits
6 pm - study/eat
7-10 pm on Monday and Wednesday Accounting class
other night, studying, writing papers, reading Wall Street Journal, taking online quizzes (2 per week), reading and making note cards so i would remember something.
10 pm - pet sits and then bed
(notice I did not mention kids. They were at their dad's for the summer)

I did this for 8 weeks. I had 2 serious breakdowns. I have decided that I am not superwoman and that something has to give. I will be closing my business soon. My business insurance is up in September, so that is looking like a good date. I cannot continue this way. And with the kids being here for school, life is going to give me as much studying time.

It's a hard decision to give up something that I started from scratch. This is MY business, something I accomplished, and now something I am giving up on. It's also something that controls my life. I work everyday, every weekend, starting at 6 am and ending at 10 pm, every holiday. It's stressful on my family when they want to go do something, but I can't because I can't take off. So, this is the part of my life that needs to go.

So, maybe fall semester will be a little more manageable without the business. Let's hope anyway.

Woofstock

Woofstock is a yearly fundraiser for our local Humane Society. This is my 3rd year there as a vendor. They have it at the county park, and it is just amazing how many people and dogs show up. Last year there were 10,000 people and 6,000 dogs (if I remember right).

I always get new clients from the event. This year I seemed to have a lot more people that acted genuinely interested. It will be interesting to see how many calls I get.

Of course there are always those assholes who laugh at me. And it was hard this year since business has been so slow. Last year whenever someone laughed, I just told them how much I made in a month then asked them if they came close to that.

Then there are the jerks that can't believe I think I can charge so much. Ummm.............obviously I can, because people do pay it. And I don't charge anymore than anyone else in my area. It's definitely a luxury service and is not for everyone. Honestly I'm glad when people complain, because it shows that they will be a pain in the ass client, and one I should turn down if they pursue it.

Anyways, I can't wait to see how many people showed up this year and how much the Humane Society raised!

Here are some pictures:

This is from our first year there, this lady and her dog were in the look-alike contest.

And here is our dog, taking a break.

My son, petting some St. Bernard.

A picture from last year, this is my booth.

My dog is the real attraction to my booth!

And just a picture of the crowd from last year.

I forgot my camera this year, but DH got some pictures with his blackberry. I'll post them whenever he sends them to me.

I feel a lazy day....but I have to leave soon :(

So, today I got out of bed around 9 am. It was soooo nice!! After enjoying 2 beers last night and uploading new music.

Well, I don't know about you all, but on the top of my list of things to do after I get out of bed, is to check my email. Nothing to interesting. I go to check my junk mail.......I have to look in their because something business requests end up there. I see this in one of the subject lines "Pictures from XXX and
XXX xxxx are ready to view" It's from Pictage. I think, " I don't know what that is" I'm about to empty my junk folder, and instead I look at that email.

OMG!! It's all of our TTD shots!!!!!! All 772 of them! It took an hour, but I got through them. I have no idea how I'm going to choose.
For you nesties, I posted the link on ND. Looking through them was like reliving the day!!

I really need to go get in the shower now. I have 2 kitty sits, then have to work 1-5 today.
I promise I will try to remember to put my memory card in my camera and get some shots today.

No pictures for today.

I was so proud of myself this morning. I actaully remembered my camera to take pictures of all the doggies and kitties. Well, the part that I forgot was the memory card which is still in my computer. Duh!

So, no pictures for today. Maybe tomorrow.

Good news is that I don't have any sits tonight, so if I want a beer, I can have one!!
DH found this website that you can upload a picture of your walls and it puts whatever colors on it. We'll see if it works like it says....and then maybe we'll finally pick a color for our hallway. Then maybe we can finally paint it and get our house back in order.

For those that don't know me that well, I have a little OCD issue when it comes to things not being where they are supposed to be. And right now I'm going crazy.

What will I do today?

Well, I have an early morning sit. The same one that I showed the picture for last night. His name is Jack. His mommy has put so much work into him. He was found at some junkyard place in MO. He was quite the wild thing from what I was told. He still can be, but his mommy has trained him well. He is such a joy.

He has 2 toys, "stick" and "donut". He prefers stick, but we play with both. I make him stay, then I go hide one or both toys, then tell him which one to go find. It's so much fun!!

Then I get to run home, shower and get ready for my office job. I will be there from 8-12. After I get off, I have 3 kitty sits to do and stop at Lowe's to get some more primer. Then I get to have lunch.

Around 4 pm, I get to go see Jack again. Him mom will be home later tonight, so that will be my last visit.

I'll get home around 5 pm, to cook supper and then hopefully we can prime the walls. We'll have to make sure the ceiling is dry enough first.

I need to take pictures of all my kitties today......maybe I'll have time to post them tonight. I think that will become a new regular part of my blogging, talking about my day and posting pix of the great doggies and kitties I get to play with.

( I love it when I hit 'check spelling' and it tells me 'no mispellings found')

Way bigger project than expected

I always do this. I think I can get something done in a certain amount of time, and I ALWAYS underestimate. The only thing I got done on Saturday was scraping the ceiling. Of course, if I didn't have to leave every couple hours, I probably would have gotten more done.

So, on Sunday we putty the holes in the walls and ceiling, sandpaper them and all the walls (they had texture paint on them before) and clean them. That took all day.

I had one sit in the morning, and one in the afternoon. We also had to go get the kids from their dads.

On Monday, we relaid the floor covers taped stuff up, and primed the ceiling and small areas on the walls. Then it was bedtime.

Before house time, I worked that morning, had one kitty sit, took Sebastian to the vet, and dropped my son off for scouts.

On Tuesday we actually got to paint. We painted the ceiling. That was it. Then it was bedtime. We really couldn't paint the walls because we the ceiling was wet and we couldn't tape it.

He's painting so fast, you can hardly see the roller.

Before house time, I had a Dr. appt, 2 kitty sits, and worked in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, I get to relax! We're afraid the ceiling might not be dry enough to start on the walls. And honestly, I haven't even picked the color. But, we do have to prime it first.

I worked this morning, had 2 kitty sits, and a dentist appt. I have one bedtime doggy to take care of tonight. If I didn't have that, I would be enjoying a nice cold one right now.

This is the doggy I get to play with tonight!
