Not many details yet, but they will be coming. It is for the month of May.
http://www.runtothefinish.com/2012/04/30-day-yoga-challenge.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+RunToFinish+%28RunToTheFinish%29

I also just purchased a groupon.com for a 28 day challenge with a small group trainer. It has to be 28 consecutive days, so I need to check my calender to figure out when I can start. I know I have some travels coming up and don't want those to interfere.

I started Nutrisystem a couple weeks ago. On most days I've been eating an average of 1,100 calories. I haven't lost ONE pound, and my clothes still fit the same. Not happy about this. My thinking is that I'm not getting enough calories for my body so it continues to store the fat in fear of starvation. Although I'm not hungry? So, I'm going to eat more veggies next week and see if that helps. I hate veggies. I can do it.

Hopefully a combination of the above will help to feel better. Less tummy, more energy, more sleep (I have trouble sleeping). That's all I want! Is it really asking too much?Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-27178656765773516582012-04-11T18:03:00.000-05:002012-04-11T18:03:00.760-05:00Credit CardsI've updated my debt sidebar. I've been so close to paying it off, then I just give up. And I'm about to use my credit card again. Taking the kids on our family vacation this summer. I'm using the card to book the flight/hotel, but by the time we leave, we'll have enough saved up to pay the rest in cash.

Logically, I should not do a vacation this year. And I should use that cash to pay down the debt.

I won't put my rationalizations here.
It was that time that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.
Before that I averaged size 7, around 125 pounds. Now I'm at 190, size 14.

I've stopped talking about, but I need to start again. Why did I stop talking? People would assume it's my fault. They would assume that my thyroid pill would take care of it. I even had an endocrinologist tell my husband to buy me bigger clothes.

People, a thyroid pill is not a magic cure. You still have symptoms. You still struggle with weight.

I don't eat horribly unhealthy food. I don't eat all the time. I do move around. I don't sit on my ass all the time. Although the more I've struggled with this lately, the more I've sat around. I'm tired of trying and not seeing any results, so why try? I trained for and completed a 1/2 marathon last year. Not a pound lost.

There's my introduction.
It keeps me focused, forces me to think about things, and helps me to achieve my goals.
Before I was trying to do everything at once. I've recently listed out what I want to do/be, and rated most important and most work. I came up with simple things to get by with the least important things, like being a good employee, because I am already that. For improving my diet, right now I'm just working on eating vegetables everyday.
The big things have bigger things to do. Like connecting with my daughter. That takes a lot of work/planning/ideas. She is a teenager and mom time is the last thing on her list.

If I were to try to do it all, like I have in the past, then everything would just be mediocre. This way I can work big on the important stuff, while just getting by with other stuff. And when that important stuff gets easier, or the goal is met, I can move on and focus more on another area.

So far it is working and my stress level is more bearable. Before I just had to have EVERYTHING perfect and NOW. I'm learning to say ok, this is my focus, let's improve this and then we can look at something else. And rating things helps: what needs the most work - what am I already good at - what can get by for now and be a focus later - what can I delegate - who can I ask for help - what area of my life needs me the most right now - and on and on...

My journal is at work (I do it over my lunch break). I'll make a copy of my list page and talk some more about that this weekend. Then it might make more sense to the blog world.
It seems I come by about once a year, then leave. No more.I don't know what kind of content you will find here. Probably a bunch of rambling about thousands of different things. I will have something to say here at least once a week. Promise. No, take that back. Promises are bad.

Right now I'm working on journaling at least three times a week. I have so much in my head. And I get home and I sit down and I do nothing. I'm overwhelmed. I thought once school was done, things would be better. Well, it's done, and I'm still not doing anything. What's my excuse now? I'm not letting myself have one. I need to get things done. Facebook has become a huge time waster for me. I even play those stupid games!!

This month I have deleted all but one game. I know, I need to stop the last one too. Maybe I'll do that next.

I have also started to 'hide' people's post that I really don't need to see. I have some very old friends on there from high school. It's nice to be able to catch up through them on FB, but I don't need to see their every post. I also have some people who really aren't considered friends, just people I know. I really don't need to see their every post! This 'hiding' has saved lots of time on FB.

This is my time waster focus for January. I need to pick one for February to focus on.

What are your time wasters?Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-58567490269903428452011-01-21T19:49:00.000-06:002011-01-21T19:49:17.991-06:00Why am I running a half-marathon?On January 3rd, my cousin's grand-daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. The same day that I heard the news, I got a brochure in the mail about running a marathon for the Leukemia Society. I tossed it in the trash, as I have never run in my life. I look at those people who do run like they are crazy.

A couple nights later I'm at dinner with some friends. We get to talking and find out about 4 of us got that brochure. We decided to go to the informational meeting. Two of us showed up!

As I was sitting through the meeting, I was thinking about another cousin, who had leukemia about 20 years ago. Man this make me feel old! I was 16 and he was 3. I spent alot of time in the hospital entertaining him. Man, he was such a trooper! It's amazing the courage kids can have, alot times more than adults!
Anyways, after about 3 years of being in and out of the hospital, he was ok. He's a great young man now. I was also remembering what his family was going through, his parents didn't handle it as well as he did, neither did his older brother (who was neglecting during the whole process). His parents divorced and his brother has been in and out of jail.

It's not just the patient who needs help, it's also the family.

My senior year English teacher passed away this month from Leukemia, and a nurse from my small hometown died yesterday from another form of cancer.

Back to the meeting...as I was reading the application someone asked if anyone was from the East side of town. I raised my hand without looking up. It was a reporter! She rushed over, took my picture and started asking me questions. My picture is going to be in the newspaper. I was committed. I couldn't back out at this point.

Everything just kind of played out in a way that I felt I needed to do this.

So, on June 5th, I will be in San Diego running 13.1 miles. Wow!

I have to raise $2,900.

Honestly, I'm more scared of running than I am of raising the money!

I'll keep you posted on my training.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-23515677682634250462011-01-12T10:34:00.000-06:002011-01-12T10:34:23.410-06:00I am crazy!Ok, so to add to this semester I'm training for a half marathon!! I've never run a day in my adult life. This is pretty scary!

I'll post more details later, just want to get this out there! It's the only way to hold myself accountable.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-74262816679838275762010-11-05T16:19:00.000-05:002010-11-05T16:19:14.350-05:00My daughter and ADHDWell, one thing that I've been dealing with for about 3 years is my daughters struggle in school. When she started middle school, we started noticing problems. It didn't help that the school she was in sucked. Literally. Her math teacher flat out refused to communicate with us on a regular basis. We were at the school every week trying to get this teacher to help us. The principal tried too. He finally told us there was nothing he could do because of the union. WTF? So, the teacher went all year without responding to emails, or returning phone calls. The only way we could find out how our daughter was doing, was to literally walk into her classroom and do a face-to-face.
Granted, the school had way too many kids. The teachers are overworked. But still.
So, having decided all public schools were like this, we put her in private school. It was nice because our church had a school, so naturally she went there for 8th and 9th grade.
While we did have teacher communication and support at this new school, our daughter continued to fail. The main problem? She wouldn't turn her work in. It was mostly done, but the teachers never saw it. Another WTF? moment.

Now she is in high school. Over the summer her counseling decided she had ADHD. Now I've worked with alot of boys who have ADHD, and I told her counselor that she did not have it. After that, I did alot of reading on the subject of ADHD in girls. It's not the same as in boys. There's also not alot of information on it. I was lucky to find an awesome book, which was actually written for teens, that really helped me to understand. "The Girls Guide to ADHD" by Beth Walker. My daughter does have ADHD.
Right before school started this year, she started medication for it.
I know, tons of opinions regarding medication. But, that is what we chose to do. We thought if we could get her to slow down long enough to understand what was going on, then we could work on other methods to help her. And so far, that is working.
And now we finally understand why she does some of the things she does. Like doing homework and not turning it in!
This has been a long, hard struggle with her. And it's nowhere over. I'm saying all this because I'm sure I will have related things to say in the future. This is just the introduction of this new aspect in our lives.
The end, for now...Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-73787320739128328212010-11-02T21:22:00.000-05:002010-11-02T21:22:38.682-05:00Wow!I can't believe it has been over a year since I've blogged!!

I don't even know where to start. But, I will be back more often.

I hope to graduate in May, 20100. After this semester I only have 3 classes left, and I'm pretty sure I can do them all next semester. Although, after the way this semester has gone, maybe not.

This school year my son started Junior High and my daughter started High School. Can we say too much change and drama??

I've also had several other family issues this semester. I am so burned out on school!
Life is crazy right now, and has been all summer. For a VERY short summary:

-Our puppy is now 90 pounds! And a total goofball. We love him.
-I passed all three summer classes!
-I'm taking three more classes right now.
-Still employed, and so is hubby (so thankful!)
-We put Sebastian down in August. He did great for several months with the cancer, but when he went downhill, it was fast.
-We did make it to Mexico in July! it was fabulous! We made some new friends from LA that we plan on taking more trips with!
-My best friend from here moved to LA in August.
-We are going to LA in October to visit.
-Debt is still going down! and savings going up!
-Reading is slow, but I've read some great books. Hopefully I can do a post with the good ones soon.

I have some pictures I want to share, but that will have to wait. I'm off to get some homework done and then get stuff for daughters birthday party tomorrow. We're going to play airsoft (like paintball, but no paint in the balls). Wait. Did I say we and play in that sentence? I'm trying not to think about it, but people will not stop talking about it!! I finally tried to do some research today. They are advising that you cancel any 'non-necessary' trips.

BUT, they are not giving a time frame! Is this just for trips this week, next week, all of May?? What people!!

I keep telling myself that this will be worked out by July. We have 2 months. Surely they will have it all taken care of by then.

And I double checked today that I did indeed purchase the travel insurance. Whew!

Now that I type this out, I'm sounding pretty selfish. I mean there are people really sick and some even dieing, and I'm bitching about a vacation. Oh well, it's a well deserved vacation. And I really do hope they get this under control before more people die. I'm really not that selfish, at least not all the time.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-4587988943051289522009-04-29T17:11:00.004-05:002009-04-29T17:16:51.934-05:00I'm losing my mind!I got a book in the mail today. They said there was not one available and someone would contact us in a few days. We never got a call. But, we did get a letter in the mail saying they were trying to contact us and gave us a number to call. So, he did. And guess what? There wasn't a supervisor available. So, we left another message. Someone did finally call and leave a VM, but DH hasn't had time to call back.
When he does and they see that recent payment, maybe they will take us seriously, but I doubt it.
I also still haven't wrote the letter. I need to get on that.

Anyways, I updated our progress bars! They are looking nice!

And we are getting new toilets next weekend! I'm trying to be very excited about that :)
It's not a new couch, but I guess I still get to sit on it, right?

It was really depressing to see a $5,500 deposit in our account yesterday and just watch it go away without having anything to show for it. It includes the balance on my credit cards and their limits. And how far I am to paying them down.
I also show a few savings accounts, I choose not to track DH's because it's more like a checking account that we only use every few months.

I've always felt like our small 1,000 savings would be good for us, and if anything really bad happened, we could use our credit cards..............
but not anymore! We're losing our credit, so we can't rely on having it there if we need it.

We're going to listen to Suze. On my credit cards with the lower balances, I'm going to pay the minimum due.........and put the extra that I planned to pay into our savings account. I have a new goal. I will still have the $1,000, but we're going to up our ING account to $5,000. After we reach our $5,000 we will figure 6 months expenses and put that as our new goal. But, the money we put into it will decrease, because at that point, we will start aggressively paying down our credit cards again.

We're also going to start adding to our travel fund. We have a trip to Cabo in July, but it is already paid for. In 2010 we are planning a long weekend somewhere in the US. Probably within driving distance. In 2011, we are going to Hawaii.

You see the BoA one over there? Since they lowered our limit we owe 98%. That card is getting zeroed out by May. We are getting a tax refund of $5,500. 1,000 will go to our new savings goal, and $4,000 will go to BoA card. We will also take some money out of DH's savings, transfer some with a zero percent offer to Chase, and some to Sears for a 3% offer. BoA will not get another penny of our interest.

The rest of the tax refund is going towards new toilets. We had to call a plumber in because our kitchen sink clogged up. We tried everything, but couldn't fix it ourselves. While he was here we had him look at our toilet, because it has been clogging quit a bit lately. He also looked at the other one. Both need to be replaced.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-42089717397380647042009-04-10T20:50:00.004-05:002009-04-10T21:00:20.289-05:00Walgreens just lost my businessI think I might be on a roll for companies that want to loose my business. First it was Bank of America Credit Cards, then Bank of America Banking (almost), and now Walgreens.

So, you all know that our dog, Sebastian, has cancer. When he was diagnosed in January, the vet in KC wrote a prescription for Morphine, 15 tablets.

Here it is April, 4 months later, and we are out of Morphine. We've used 15 pills in 3 months. Our new vet wrote us a new prescription last week, we took it to Walgreens tonight. The same place that filled it in January.

We dropped it off at 6 pm. Our vet closes at 6 pm. He doesn't open again until Monday. The pharmacist didn't "feel comfortable" filing the prescription, and said he would call the vet on Monday. I said, our dog has cancer, 15 pills have lasted 4 months, he needs a pill.

No deal.

Now mind you, my husband and I both have monthly prescriptions that we get at this place. Sebastian got 15 pills in January. We obviously ARE NOT abusing the morphine! My dog has cancer in one leg, and a laceration that is healing on the other leg! He needs his pain medication!

We asked for the prescription back, drove across the street to Dillons, and 20 minutes later had his morphine.

I really don't understand what the guys problem was at Walgreens. But I will be in the store on Monday, talking to a supervisor and explaining to him why we will no longer shop there.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-8026976283074310642009-04-07T17:30:00.004-05:002009-04-07T17:44:25.929-05:00Bank of America credit card conversationWarning: I'm not too happy right now and there may be some not so nice language in this post.

Wow! So, we have taken the advice of calling our high interest credit cards and asking for a rate reduction.

This woman (a supervisor) will not reduce the interest rate.

What she IS going to do is lower our credit limit. This sucks because it will raise our debt ratio, and in turn lower our credit rating. She says this will help. DH is trying to tell her it won't. She won't listen. We're trying to get someone above her and she is saying she is the top. Bullshit. DH is being really good, calm, persistent, and knowledgeable.

We have been good customers. We have a high balance, they've been making around $200 per month in interest from us, and we want something in return. Instead they fuck us again. Now it's time to take our business elsewhere. The interest rate is 23.99%. Screw that.

Good thing we have a 0% transfer offer. We will be transferring our Bank of America balance to another card and never using them again.

We won't be closing the account, because that could hurt our credit rating, but we will never use it again (other than the occasional tank of gas that gets paid immediately).

edited to add:

Our current balance with this card is $8,762.50
Our current limit is $14,700.00

We owe appx. 60%

She is cutting our limit to the amount we currently owe, hence making us owe 100%.

We are done with Bank of America.Me...http://www.blogger.com/profile/05717236311516258754noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4323742092674269240.post-72343798648379276642009-03-30T17:18:00.000-05:002009-03-30T17:18:00.504-05:00Snow and ears<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
